THE WORK THAT RECONNECTS, COMING FROM GRATITUDE
workshop led by Marguerite Kahrl

The Work that Reconnects (WTR) has emerged in response to the economic, social and ecological crisis of our time. Developed by Joanna Macy, it is a groundbreaking theoretical framework which helps to build motivation, creativity, courage and solidarity for the transition to a sustainable human culture. This open source body of work compliments Permaculture by prompting a paradigm shift from the Industrial Growth Society to Life Sustaining Society.

PICCOLE INVASIONI MALTHUSIANE @ Villa Croce

Curated by Ilaria Bonacossa and Marco Scotini with Anna Lovecchio
Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce, Genova in collaboration with PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Torino
22.04 — 12.06 2016

Villa Croce presents Little Malthusian Invasions, a solo show of Marguerite Kahrl that features two bodies of work by the American artist: the ongoing Noble Savages series of drawings, sculptures and videos in addition to a selection of relational objects from Con MOI, a collaborative project developed in the area of the former Olympic village in Turin.

Opening April 21, 6 pm with performance ‘On nature of matter’ by Marguerite Kahrl and Giuseppe Gavazza

Opening the exhibition Small Malthusian Invasions with a performance, Kahrl and Gavazza take the opportunity to share their artistic collaboration, including sound for the video installation Malthusian Matter, “the ecology of little invasions” and the videos related to the project Con MOI.

They invite viewers to experience a live time-lapse, installing and animating a short laboratory that is more of an open studio than a theater stage. Marguerite will produce one of her Noble Savages made of hemp fabrics while Giuseppe will realize, in parallel, some of the sound objects/musical instruments used for the music of the videos, virtual objects.

Gavazza has created the soundtrack for the videos, and virtual objects with the physical modeling software “Genesis”. An electronic lutherie builds vibrating structures that overlay the physical laws of the real world with the digital world, perceptible through video projection and audio diffusion.
